Amtrak Charter Strikes Garbage Truck in Virginia

A chartered Amtrak train carrying Congressional leaders from Washington, D.C., to the Greenbrier Resort at White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., struck a garbage truck at a crossing outside of Charlottesville, Va. Amtrak said none of the passengers or crew members were injured, the White House confirmed one person in the garbage truck was killed. Passengers were transferred to buses to complete their trip, while the National Transportation Safety Board sent a team to investigate the accident.
