Chicago Transit Authority prepares for 70th anniversary

Chicago Transit Authority 70The Chicago Transit Authority took control of the Windy City’s rapid transit, bus, and trolley lines on October 1, 1947, ushering in a new era of transportation for one of America’s largest urban populations. While CTA is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, the city will also be marking the 125th anniversary of the opening of Chicago’s first elevated rapid transit line. A number of special events are planned for June and October to celebrate these anniversaries and reflect on how they shaped the development of Chicago.
