FTA funds San Diego extension

An eleven mile extension to San Diego’s Blue Line light rail will be funded in part by a $1 billion Federal Transit Administration grant. The extended Mid-Coast Trolley will connect University City with downtown, and is expected to be in service by 2021. The first part of San Diego’s light rail system opened in 1981, helping lead the way for modern rail transit projects across the country.
