TECO Kicks Off New Morning Service

The TECO Line streetcar is the 2.4-mile system operated by the Hillsborough Area Regional Transportation Authority connecting downtown Tampa, the Convention Center, the Channelside area, and the thriving entertainment/tourist destination of Ybor City. Designed to serve the busy cruise industry, the line is also seeing a growing number of commuters. Recently the line was expanded a third of a mile farther into downtown to better serve the 35,000 people who work there.

Since its startup, the line has started service at noon during the week and 11:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. With more commuters using the system, TECO began a morning service trial period on September 26. Trolleys begin running at 7:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday with Sunday service beginning at noon. Ridership and costs will be analyzed at the conclusion of the trial period for possible permanent extension.
