Palmetto derailment in Pennsylvania

Amtrak Train 89, the Palmetto, struck a backhoe near Chester, Pa., this morning. The impact resulted in a derailment that killed two (non-passengers) and injured dozens on the train. Amtrak Northeast Corridor service and SEPTA commuter rail between Wilmington, Del., and Philadelphia has been suspended all morning. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
